Disposable, non-sterile gloves are recommended for safe patient care. These are available in a variety of materials:

1. Nitrile: Is becoming increasingly popular due to its low risk of allergies and comfort.

2. Vinyl: Is used for limited contact with the patient, as some gloves do not provide a snug fit on the hand, especially around the wrist, therefore not recommend for extensive contact.

3. Latex: Use of latex gloves have been limited or eliminated in some facilities due to the risk of allergies.

Sterile surgical gloves are worn by surgeons and other healthcare personnel who perform invasive patient procedures.
